Quickstart: collect and show customer testimonials

Collect your first customer testimonial and show it on your website in about five minutes, with two lines of embed code and no plugins.

1 minUpdated

SiteBackend collects testimonials from your customers and shows the ones you approve on your website. You paste two embed codes: one for the form customers fill in, one for the widget that shows approved testimonials. There's nothing to install and no code to write.

Create an account and a site

Sign up and click Add site (the + next to Sites in the sidebar). A site is one website, for example example.com.

Add the collect form to your site

Open your site's Testimonials tab, then Collect. Choose what to ask for (a star rating, a photo, their role and company), check the live preview, and copy the embed code:

<div data-sitebackend-widget="c_YOUR_COLLECT_ID"></div>
<script src="https://sitebackend.com/widget.js" async></script>

Paste it into the page where customers should leave a testimonial, or send them a link to that page.

Approve a testimonial

Leave a test testimonial through the form. It lands in Testimonials → Inbox as Pending, and owners and admins get an email about it. Click Approve.

To skip this step for good ones, set Auto-approve on the Collect page so 4★ and 5★ testimonials go live on their own.

Show approved testimonials

Go to Testimonials → Widgets, click New widget and pick a layout: wall, carousel, single highlight or rating badge. Copy its embed code into the page where the testimonials should appear:

<div data-sitebackend-widget="w_YOUR_WIDGET_ID"></div>
<script src="https://sitebackend.com/widget.js" async></script>

If the page already has the collect form, you only need the div: the script is needed once per page.
