Create and configure forms
Create a form in SiteBackend, copy its endpoint, and configure it - pausing, redirects, auto-replies, spam protection, file uploads and allowed origins.
A form is one endpoint that your website's <form> posts to. Forms live inside a site.
How do I create a form?
Open the site and click New form on its Forms tab. Each form shows its endpoint URL with a Copy button, and has three tabs: Submissions (its inbox, see submissions), Notifications (where new submissions are sent, see notifications) and Settings.
Form settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Accepting submissions | Turn off to pause the form. Paused forms reject submissions with 403. |
| Site | Move the form to another site in the same workspace. The endpoint doesn't change. |
| Redirect URL / Success message | Where visitors go after submitting. See redirects. |
| Auto-reply (Pro) | Email the submitter a confirmation, with your own subject and message. See below. |
| Honeypot, content filter, captcha | See spam protection. |
| File uploads | Accept attachments. See file uploads. |
| Allowed origins | Which websites may submit. See allowed origins. |
| Email field, Create contacts | Which field holds the sender's email, and whether to add senders to contacts. |
Changes are saved with Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the page. Discard puts back the saved values.
Auto-reply (Pro)
Turn on Send an auto-reply to email everyone who submits the form, for example to confirm you got their message.
- Subject and Message can include what they sent: write a field name in double braces, like
{{name}}. Unknown fields are left empty. A blank line starts a new paragraph. - Reply-to is where replies to the auto-reply go. Leave it empty to send it without a reply address.
- It goes to the address in the form's Email field (under Contacts), and comes from your site's name.
- It's only sent for submissions that pass the spam checks, and at most once a day to the same address from the same form, so the form can't be used to flood someone's inbox.
Deleting a form stops its endpoint immediately and deletes its submissions.
