Formspree is the best-known form backend for static sites, and for good reason: it's reliable and simple. But its free plan is 50 submissions a month and keeps submissions for 30 days, and its paid plans start at $10 a month for 200 submissions. If you're outgrowing that, or just want something different, here are the alternatives worth looking at.
How we picked
Every tool here accepts a regular HTML form post, so switching is mostly a matter of changing your form's action URL. We checked each vendor's own pricing page on the date shown at the top, and we list the sources at the end. We make SiteBackend, so it's on the list, but we've tried to be straight about where others are a better fit.
What does Formspree offer?
As of September 2026, Formspree's plans are:
| Plan | Price | Submissions / month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 |
| Personal | $10/mo | 200 |
| Professional | $20/mo | 2,000 |
| Business | $60/mo | 20,000 |
The free plan keeps submissions for 30 days and doesn't include file uploads. It does include email, Discord, Slack and Telegram notifications.
SiteBackend
Best for: sites that want a proper inbox, contacts and lots of notification options without paying much.
SiteBackend's free plan includes 100 submissions a month on one site. Pro is $9 a month ($90 a year) with unlimited submissions and sites, plus auto-replies to the people who write in. Both plans get the same core features: a per-form inbox with spam and archive folders, CSV export, contacts with notes and tags, and notifications by email, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, WhatsApp, Google Sheets and signed webhooks. Spam protection covers a honeypot, a content filter, rate limiting, and Turnstile, hCaptcha or reCAPTCHA.
File uploads are included on both plans: up to 10 MB per file and 1 GB of storage on Free, 100 MB per file and 20 GB on Pro. Files are stored privately and only your team can download them.
Forminit (formerly Getform)
Best for: forms that need file storage and a REST API.
Getform was renamed Forminit in January 2026. Its free plan includes 100 submissions a month on one form with 100 MB of file storage. Pro is $15.83 a month billed yearly for 5,000 submissions, 5 forms and 1 GB of storage, and adds webhooks, a REST API, Slack, Discord, Google Sheets and Zapier.
Basin
Best for: agencies that need file uploads and their own SMTP server.
Basin's free plan includes 50 submissions a month on one form with 100 MB of file storage. Paid plans start at $12.50 a month (250 submissions, 3 forms). Its Pro plan, at $30.62 a month billed yearly, includes 5,000 submissions, 10 GB of storage, custom SMTP and advanced spam filtering.
Formspark
Best for: low-traffic sites that would rather pay once than subscribe.
Formspark is unusual: you buy submissions instead of a subscription. Every account includes 250 free submissions and 10 forms, and a one-time $25 payment adds 50,000 submissions and 100 forms (listed as a discount from $50 when we checked). The bundles don't expire. It supports several captcha providers and a honeypot.
Web3Forms
Best for: a generous free plan for simple forms.
Web3Forms' free plan includes 250 submissions a month with unlimited forms and domains, hCaptcha, custom redirect pages and 30 days of submission history. Paid plans raise the limit (5,000, 10,000 or 20,000 a month) and add file uploads, reCAPTCHA and Turnstile, webhooks and integrations, and autoresponders. Its pricing page shows prices in your local currency, so check it for what you'd pay.
FormSubmit
Best for: getting form submissions in your inbox with zero setup.
FormSubmit is free and needs no account: you point your form at an address based on your email and confirm it once. It supports reCAPTCHA, custom redirects and autoresponses. There's no dashboard, so it's best when email is all you need.
Netlify Forms
Best for: sites already hosted on Netlify.
If you deploy on Netlify, its built-in forms may be all you need: on Netlify's credit-based plans, forms are free and unlimited, according to Netlify's docs. The catch is that it only works for sites hosted on Netlify, so it's not an option if you host elsewhere or plan to move.
Which one should you choose?
- Just need emails, no account: FormSubmit.
- Hosting on Netlify already: Netlify Forms.
- Low volume, hate subscriptions: Formspark.
- Biggest free monthly allowance: Web3Forms.
- Need file uploads on a free plan: SiteBackend or Forminit.
- Want an inbox, contacts and notifications on a budget: SiteBackend. Setup takes about two minutes.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to Formspree?
It depends on what you need. Web3Forms' free plan includes 250 submissions a month and Formspark's free tier includes 250 submissions in total. SiteBackend's includes 100 a month with a full inbox and notifications, and FormSubmit is free with no account if you only need form-to-email. Formspree's own free plan includes 50 submissions a month.
Can I switch from Formspree without changing my HTML?
Mostly. Every service on this list takes a standard HTML form post, so you usually only change the form's action URL. Special fields differ: Formspree uses _gotcha as a honeypot and so does SiteBackend, while other services use their own names, so check the docs of the one you pick.
Which Formspree alternative supports file uploads?
SiteBackend includes file uploads on every plan, including Free (10 MB per file). Forminit (formerly Getform), Basin and Netlify Forms also list file storage on their pricing pages, and Web3Forms includes file uploads on its paid plans.
Is Getform still available?
Getform was renamed Forminit in January 2026. According to Forminit, it's the same service, and existing Getform accounts and endpoints keep working.
