# Redirects and thank-you pages

> Choose where visitors land after submitting - the built-in SiteBackend thank-you page, your own custom message, or any URL on your site.

After an HTML form is submitted, the visitor is redirected. You decide where.

## The default thank-you page

With no redirect set, visitors see a SiteBackend thank-you page with a **Go back** link to the page they came from, and a small "Powered by SiteBackend" link at the bottom. To change its text, open **Form → Settings → After submit** and fill in **Success message**.

## How do I redirect to my own page?

Set **Redirect URL** in **Form → Settings → After submit**, for example `https://example.com/thanks`. After a successful submission, visitors are sent there with a `303` redirect. The URL must start with `http://` or `https://`.

> **Note:** Errors (for example a failed captcha or a paused form) always go to the SiteBackend thank-you page with the error message, so visitors see what went wrong.

## What about JavaScript submissions?

Requests sent as JSON never redirect. They get `{ "ok": true }` or `{ "ok": false, "error": "…" }` back, and your code decides what to show. See [submitting with JavaScript](https://sitebackend.com/docs/forms/javascript-fetch).
