Contacts are a lightweight CRM built from your form submissions. Each site has its own contacts, on the site's **Contacts** tab.

## How are contacts created?

When a submission includes a valid email address in the form's email field (`email` by default), SiteBackend creates a contact for it, or updates the existing one. Emails are matched without regard to case, so `Jane@Example.com` and `jane@example.com` are the same person. You can also add contacts by hand with **Add contact**.

Turn this off per form in **Form → Settings → Contacts**.

## What's on a contact?

Click a contact to open it. The main column has your notes and their submissions; the column on the right has their details.

- **Details**: name, company, phone and tags, all editable, plus when they were first and last seen.
- **Notes**: private notes for your team. Authors can delete their own notes; owners and admins can delete any.
- **Submissions**: everything this person has sent through the site's forms.

## Tags, search and export

Tags are lowercase and separated by commas (`lead, vip`). Use the tag chips above the list to filter it, search by name, email or company, and use **Export CSV** to download the site's contacts.

Deleting a contact deletes its notes but keeps its submissions in your inbox.
